Additional learning support
At our school, we ensure every student is ready to learn. We support students with disability and additional learning needs so they can take part in all areas of school life. You do not need a formal diagnosis for your child to receive support in a mainstream class. Support can begin at any stage of school.
Support that fits your child's needs
At Rozelle Public School, we are committed to helping every student feel confident and succeed to their fullest potential. We believe that by working closely with families, teachers, and support staff, we can create personalised support plans that meet each child's unique needs.
Additional learning support at Rozelle can include:
- Collaborative teamwork between teachers, support staff, families, and students
- Specialist support for students learning English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D)
- Tailored programs for high potential and gifted students
- Small group tutoring through programs like MiniLit and MacqLit for targeted literacy and numeracy support
- Accessible classrooms equipped with assistive technology and specialised instructional resources
- Classroom adjustments such as extra guidance, simplified content, or alternative lesson focuses
- Assessment adjustments including extra time, simpler language, breaks during tasks, and different ways to demonstrate learning (e.g., oral presentations)
- Regular check-ins to review and update support plans to ensure ongoing success
We notice when a student may need extra help through changes in learning or behaviour, assessment results, or when parents and carers share their concerns.
