2019 REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMEMORATIONS AT ROZELLE

Our school leaders, with the guidance of Ms Courtney Hansen, presented a beautiful and moving Remembrance Day assembly. We were fortunate to have special guests Balmain/Rozelle RSL sub branch President John Minehan, Vice President Mr Paul Doughty and Captain Will Martin (retired), Royal Australian Navy. Captain Martin gave a very moving and engaging speech about the significance of Remembrance Day for him. I think there might be many students who share some of his story around the dinner table at home. The School Leaders did an outstanding job in providing information about Re- membrance Day, sharing their insights and reciting traditional poems. Ruby Mills very expressively shared the book The ANZAC Billy by Claire Saxby. The School Leaders were assisted by students from Year 3 Gundangara who sang beautifully and by trumpeters Lachlan Jackson and Aiden Elcham who per- formed the Last Post and Reveille with great poise and accuracy. Thank you to all those students who performed and presented during the assembly, to Ms Hansen and to all students for their respectful and attentive behaviour.

Four of our School Leaders and Ms Day attended the Remembrance Day Cere- mony at Loyalty Square on Monday 11 November and laid a wreath on behalf of the school.
